FAQs

Kostet mich CheckpoinT*I*N Geld?

Nein. Das Angebot wird finanziell von MSD unterstützt. Dadurch sind die Tests für euch kostenlos.

Muss ich meinen Namen angeben?

Nein. Unser Angebot ist anonym.

Muss ich mich ausziehen?

Nein.

Wann findet CheckpoinT*I*N statt?

CheckpoinT*I*N - Counselling and Testing for trans*, inter* and non-binary people

CheckpoinT*I*N  is the new counselling and testing service for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) provided by the Trans*Inter*Beratungsstelle in cooperation with the HIV-Beratungsstelle of the Münchner Aids-Hilfe. If you cannot find answers to your questions in our FAQs, please contact us. (Contact information below)

We also made a Video to walk you through the process. (Turn on subtitles)

Why is CheckpoinT*I*N only for trans*, inter* and non-binary people?

When it comes to HIV and other STIs, early detection and therapy are the buzzwords. Treatments for HIV have come a long way. A long and healthy life is absolutely possible for HIV-positive people, even though HIV can’t be cured. Starting therapy early gives people the best chance to have such a life. Depending on one’s lifestyle, regular testing for HIV might be a good idea.

In our counselling work at the Trans*Inter*Beratungsstelle we sometimes hear people talk about negative experiences with existing testing services. This might lead to people not getting tested at all. We want to change this and add another option. We offer information and testing for trans*, inter* and non-binary people by our trans* and/or non-binary staff members who are also receptive to the needs of inter* people.

What tests can I get?

In a conversation about prevention and risks, we discuss which tests would make sense for you considering your individual situation.

We can test for:

HIV

Syphilis

Chlamydia

Gonorrhoea

Depending on the time between your last risk and now, we offer either quick tests or lab tests for HIV and Syphilis.

For Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea, we offer swabs and/or urine sampling.

Does it cost money?

No. This service is supported by MSD and because of that, it is free for you.

Do I have to register under my name?

No. the CheckpoinT*I*N is anonymous.

Do I have to undress?

No. If you decide to do a test by swab, you use them on your own. We will give you detailed instructions on how to properly get a sample.
